Work Process:
April started working in Photograhy and Mixed Media in 2022. She collects and stores unrelated images from different modalities and mediums—3D modeling, photographs, paintings, advertisements and original content. She removes color, texture, and the context from which they originate. These elements then form a visual depository or footage bin, from which she uses to create the composition. Once the composition is complete it is mounted to board using archival materials and the process of painting begins with acrylics, pigments and sometimes oil paint and wax.
Artist Statement:
My work explores the relationship between the observer and the observed and the blurred boundaries of reality and illusion. I am interested in the convergence of painting, photography and 3D modeling.
